Rabbits

Rabbit Activity: As the most prevalent wild mammal in our surroundings, these animals are frequently spotted foraging within residential landscapes. Identifying their presence is straightforward through evidence such as round droppings, the gnawing of bark on mature woody species, and the sharp, precise shearing of fresh foliage and stems. During the colder months, their distinctive tracks in the snow further signal their ongoing habitation.

Habitat Modification: Eliminate potential nesting sites like weed patches, brush, and stone piles near garden areas. Situate new garden beds at a distance from thickets or wooded regions. Although rabbits will consume most plants if hungry enough, opting for less attractive species can minimize damage from grazing.

Repellents: These tools should be viewed as temporary management rather than a permanent solution. Frequent application is necessary since many are water-soluble. Success rates depend on the environment and the individual gardener; furthermore, they may prove ineffective if other food sources are limited. It is important to remember that using toxicants, moth crystals, or mothballs for rabbit management is illegal and not supported by product labeling. What fragrances are most offensive to rabbits? These animals are repelled by the pungent aromas of predator urine, lavender, onions, chillies, and garlic. You can deter them by planting these specific herbs or using sprays containing these scents.
